Thattekad bird sanctuary is very rightly called a ‘Birder’s Paradise’, home to some 300 species of birds including Ceylon frog-mouths, Malabar grey hornbills, jungle mynas, rose-billed rollers, Indian Swiftlet, changeable Hawk-Eagle, Oriental Darter, Grey Heron, and various woodpeckers. This bird sanctuary lying 13 Km north east of Kothamangalam, is named after Dr. Salim Ali, world renowned ornithologist and occupies the catchment area of Bhoothathan Kettu Dam. |
